Working Together for Safety
Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Only by working together at all levels can safety continue to improve. APPEA invited chief executives, operations managers, supervisors and the workforce of Australian Operators, Contractors and Regulators to share ideas, which will enable continuous improvement of the industry's safety performance. Current improvements in health and safety management in the Australian oil and gas industry are resulting from a focus on human factors including improving safety culture by addressing leadership and personal behaviour together with improvements in integrity and maintenance management.
APPEA offered delegates the opportunity to participate in two events.
The synergies created by integrating these will events enable us to achieve greater improvements in safety performance by working together more closely than ever before. Over the three days attendees
experienced the many ways in which all areas of the industry can work together and delegates were encouraged to attend and experience all events at the conference. The social program supported the day’s sessions with the chance to network and meet others in the industry.
On the first day the Health and Safety Representatives Forum provided an unmatched opportunity for the workforce representatives from across Australia to come together to share their safety experiences and discuss practical ways to improve safety outcomes, including the development of plans, which will enable the continuation of these initiatives after the Forum.
On the second and third days the National Safety Conference continued the theme of working together for safety, with academics presenting new developments in understanding and practitiioners detailing real case studies. Presentations and facilitated workshop sessions on all three days focused on real issues and real solutions, and an action plan for how these could bve adapted to the individual requirements of company, site and workforce.
